How does the media, specifically television, affect today's youth in a negative way?

This picture shows an example of how television affects the obesity of teenagers these days. As you can see here, there is a young teenage boy eating chips while he is watching television. He does not understand that he is eating so much because he is focused on watching the show. As you can also see, he is very obese as it is and that is because he is probably eating every time he watches television! You can clearly see here that this is a real issue and it needs to be stopped.

This is truly an eye opener! I have always heard the term "couch potato", but this has clearly brought it to light. It is apparent that there is a strong connection between health and an overabundance of media. My question is, "Are you aware of any other health problems that an excessive amount of exposure to the media can cause?"
